SHRIMPS WAS A PREHISTORIC FLUFF BALL COLLISION OF NEON MEETS FIFTIES. WHAT A DEBUT SHOW TO HAVE!
HAIR: ALEX BROWNSELL FOR BLEACH LONDON
MAKEUP: LAUREN PARSONS FOR HD BROWS
NAILS: MICHELLE HUMPHREY FOR MAYBELLINE
With fans already like Alexa Chung, you know the debut of Shrimps at Fashion Week is gonna be good. Curated by 24 year old Hannah Weiland, the buzz around this show was electric. So electric and exclusive almost that it was underneath Somerset House in one of the hidden hideaway presentation spaces, and we had to wait for a good twenty minutes outside to be allowed in to photograph – the area was that small backstage. When debuting a strong, fun fuzzy fur collection like the Shrimps SS15 range, you need a strong creative hair team. That came led in the shape of outrageously cool Alex Brownsell for Bleach London.
Inspired by Jackie O, Alex created a half fan shape low ponytail with a shell like exterior. The Bleach London Swamp Spritz was the hero product in this situation, giving life and oomph to the hair to help it stay, as it was pinned and fanned out to add to the Flintstones-esque look of the Shrimps collection.
Michelle Humphrey was on hand to create the nail for Maybelline and boy was it a showstopper. Using a pearlescent shimmery polish, Michelle then used tiny little pearls to finish the Flintstones look. Perfect! I think these nails are effortlessly beautiful without being too in your face. An extension of your jewellery, really. Lauren Parsons created the makeup look for HD Brows and it was a luminous, fresh neutral palette. The same on every single model, she painted on freckles aswell as using a coral lipgloss. There was nothing on the eyebrows or lashes, and paired with the coral fur in the collection and the flame red haired girls, it was a natural yet very British summer affair.
So the presentation itself was inside a an almost ‘cave’ like structure, with Hannah being heavily influenced by the film Pleasantville. Unbelievably girly and fun, silk shirts adorned with Shrimps teamed up with neon fur trimmed jackets, and of course with the nod to the Flinstones falling over onto leopard printed coats. Considering this was Hannah’s very first time at London Fashion Week, she’s definitely showed us all what she’s capable of by introducing us to the cult brand in the best way possible – bold, edgy and above all? Fun. That, is the Shrimps girl.
** ТАК, КАК Я МОГУ ДЕЛАТЬ ЭТО НА ДОМЕ? **
It can be hard reading glossy Fashion Week reports and imagining doing the looks at home, so this season i’m adding in a few easy-to-recreate tips for us normies (and on a budget, too!) I’ll be trying some of them out myself. Here’s how you can get a similar style to the Shrimps London Fashion Week show!
– Swap a black fur jacket in favour of an orange, or a yellow if you’re brave!
– Team your fur coats with delicate silk shirts, and button up to the top.
– Try the Bleach shell ponytail, it’s easier than it looks. Fold it up, tuck, and fan out.
– Pick up some pearls for cheap from eBay and glue to a pearly nail!
– Ditch the big brows for once, and try a natural soft brow for Summer!
– Shrimps is about texture, and playfulness. Experiment with your wardrobe!
What do you think of Hannah’s debut at Fashion Week with Shrimps? I can’t get enough of it… and i’d quite like to own it all, please.
